PARKS, RECREATION AND TOURISM (AUGÂ 2018 - DECÂ 2021)
I am graduating from the University of Utah in December of 2021 with a degree in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism. My Emphasis was in Outdoor Recreation Studies. While at the U, I participated in our BlockU program, which is an academic learning community for first year students at the University. Our emphasis was in "Work, Wellness, and the Great Outdoors". I worked with these peers for my entire freshman year. Together we completed capstone projects in our field and presented them to the University.

I spent 3 and a half year living in Salt Lake attending the U and working on campus. I was a member of the University of Utah's Climbing Team as well as the Freeskier Society.

RoKC Climbing Gym
MY SENIOR INTERNSHIP
For my final credits needed to fulfill my degree, I completed an internship with RoKC Climbing Gyms. RoKC is a collection of climbing gyms located in Kansas City, MO. Throughout my time there I worked in event management, community outreach, gym management, and as an instructor.

My biggest project I took over at RoKC was the planning and management of our fall climbing competitions. These were a weekend of climbing competitions, one being a youth event and one being a citizens comp, that we hosted at our facilities.
USAC Youth Comp - 11.13.2021
YOUTH QUALIFYING EVENT
We worked with USA Climbing to host a youth qualifying climbing event at our gym. We had over 100 youth competitors competing. I scheduled and ran the logistics of the day, as well as helping to train staff and volunteers on what to do throughout the event.

Below is a link to the Youth scores from the day. This shows how many people competed as well as giving the viewer an idea of how many boulders were set for this event.
Midwest Boulderfest - 11.14.2021
CITIZENS' COMPETITION
This was our competition for all of our members. Anyone could come in and compete. We ended up having 189 competitors throughout the day. I ran logistics and scheduling for this comp as well. I was also in charge of getting sponsors and prize donations for the competition as well as some route setting.

Instruction - Fall 2021
INSTRUCTING TOPÂ AND LEAD ROPE COURSES
During my time at RoKC, I have taken over as the instructor for all of our technical courses. We teach Top Rope and Lead Rope once a week. I have also began running private courses as well, working with my manager and our customers to get those scheduled.

Below is a link to my Lead Climbing lesson plan I helped work on for RoKC. It is the lesson plan I use every time I teach this course.
Approach Training - Fall 2021
POS TRAINING FOR NEW EMPLOYEES
I worked with my managers to create an in depth training guide for new employees on our POS system. We made a "test environment" for this through our POS system. I put together documents that covered specific situations they may face and how to handle it.

Below is a link to a folder of documents I created for our POS training. This shows how in depth these documents had to be for our new employees.
